Adam S. Warren
Principal - Academia Moderna
Dear Academia Moderna Community,
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new Principal of Academia Moderna. I have been in the field of education for over 20 years taking on various roles such as teacher, site and district administrator, and education consultant that focused on curriculum and instruction, school and district reform measures, and academic coaching. My father was my inspiration and reason why I went into the field of education. His belief in education and how it can transform anyone’s life is what I would like to mimic for the students at Academia Moderna.
I firmly believe that ALL students can learn. I guide my decision making on putting students’ needs first. My beliefs directly align with Academia Moderna’s Mission and Vision to prepare students to be life-long learning, globally minded, critical thinking individuals. I am committed to exploring new ways to meet the needs of ALL of our students and to be more effective in communicating with parents, and the community.
In addition to myself, there are other additions to the Academia Moderna’s staff. I would like to welcome Ms. Villalobos, who will be our Assistant Principal. Ms. Villalobos comes with a wealth of knowledge about Special Education and instruction and is looking forward to working with you as well. There will also be other new educators and support staff joining us. With many new staff joining us, new ideas and energy will be added to our already amazing team.
This school year is going to be exciting with lots of learning and fun. We have our International Baccalaureate (IB) Evaluation/Certification and our Charter Renewal this year. This work will allow us to show case all of the great work that we do at Academia Moderna.
In order to meet our student achievement goals we will be continuing to focus on our IB Units of Study (that are aligned to California State Content Standards). The Instructional Staff has been experiencing a lot of professional development sessions during the summer and will continue throughout the year. Homework is going to look a little different this year. Learning extension assignments will be found in the IB Unit Newsletters, in addition to literacy and mathematical practice opportunities.
In closing, please know that I am looking forward to serving the Academia Moderna Family. I welcome meeting you and looking forward to many celebrations through out the year. Let’s always keep our students’ need first.
